STEPS TOWARD CONSTRUCTION LOAN PLANNING
Plan location
Check with building authority to determine your lot selection is compatible with local zoning codes and ordinance(s)
Obtain written setback and zoning requirements
Determine cost of construction permits, school permits, sewer and utility connection charges.
If a septic system will be used, consider hiring an environmental consultant or engineer to assist with water and sewage requirements
Select your architect or engineer to draw the plans
Select your contractor
Submit plans to government authority for permit to build
Submit copy of approved plans, with copy of contractors license, evidence of contractors insurance, and liability policy to contruction lender
Discuss terms of your custom construction loan with the lender and time necessary to complete the construction project
